Mountains come out of the sky, they stand there

March 7th, 2008

Oh, snap! It’s a high-school marching band performing “Roundabout.”

I love the 365 Days Project. I love it I love it I love it.

After my first posting about it, my friend and fellow closet-Claus-Ogerman-appreciator Rob G. pointed out that he was, in fact, a contributor to the original 2003 list. Here’s his amazing submission, “Stainy Heavy Needles / The Every Days Way Down to the Suburbs” by Staff Carpenborg And The Electric Corona (which, incidentally, includes some really hot handclaps):

Koven, unless I have it wrong (judging only from the url), that’s Stanford University’s marching band, not a high school band, doing “Runabout”. They’ve always been pretty hip as far as song stylings go, and they (more so than Columbia) perfected the fire-drill style of formation changes between songs. I grew up with the fierce band rivalry between Stanford & Cal (& my bro was in Band at Cal; even did some Chicago arrangements for them).

I never knew your were a marching band freak. I assume you’ve already trawled the university marching band web sites for audio.

Forgive me, “Roundabout.” Rip off my epaulets!
